Gene, July 11 2022
July 2022: looking over a notebook of his blog posts, compiled so Gene could have a paper copy of his blog. Gene passed away in December 2022 at the age of 92. A sample of his notes:
“My poetry often includes animals. They are nature’s true teachers and I am fortunate to learn from them every day here on the banks of the Oconee. My two “cat familiars” Max and Tony continue to be the centerstage Buddhas in my daily routine and encourage me to stop and rest, observe, and enjoy. If there was a mantra in Max’s purring, it was simply a matter of “less doing, more being.” – February 7, 2020
