As much as we put off thinking about our decline, daily activity becomes a reminder. Aging is a time to enjoy new perspectives and notice more subtle harmonies.

I caution elders not to fall into the trap of seeing themselves as useless, mindless, and sexless, the triad of ageism coined by Maggie Kuhn and her Gray Panther movement.

Springtime in the garden

Lao Tsu adds a dimension of time and completeness in nature: "nature does not hurry yet all things are accomplished." I find in this Tao verse echoes of my Jesuit days of finding God in everything.
